The Jordaan area
Start your fantastic foodie day with a stroll through the picturesque 17-th century Jordaan and enjoy various Dutch delicacies along the way, such as the best apple pie in Amsterdam, the Surinamese-Indonesian cuisine and the tastiest sausages of a 125-year-old butcher’s shop.

Prinseneiland, a real hidden gem
After the canal tour you will visit the idyllic ‘Prinseneiland’ where the 17th century is still alive with imposing warehouses and wooden bridges. Many Amsterdammers even do not know this amazing area. The day will end with a stop in one of Amsterdam’s most likeable local bars where you will look back on a fantastic day in Amsterdam with a last drink and a portion of good old Dutch ‘bitterballen’.

Hop on a classic wooden boat
Then come on board on a classic wooden boat, a so-called ‘salon boat’. Due to a lack of good roads, these luxury boats were used in the late 19th century by doctors, for example, to visit patients in the polder areas. During the canal tour around the old town you will see the beautiful Amsterdam canals and canal houses and hear everything about this magnificent Unesco world heritage. On the canal tour you will also enjoy a superb Dutch cheese tasting paired with locally brewed beer or Dutch white wine. You read that correctly, in the Netherlands, pretty good white wine is made today!

True Amsterdammers

learn more

We strongly believe that you will not truly get to know and understand Amsterdam and its people until you walk its streets with someone who eats, lives, loves and breathes the city. This is why we only work with experienced and professional Dutch guides, who have lived in Amsterdam for many years. They know every street corner and alleyway. And every local flavor. They are always on the lookout for new experiences and stories to share with you. Not because they have to, but to still their own relentless curiosity. We will take you to the same places where we buy our own groceries, go for a beer, or eat out. Don’t expect scripted stories from us, because Amsterdam is never the same, from one day to the next.

The best food

learn more

Amsterdam Food Tours is hospitality at its best. We are a small, yet professional group of food tour guides who simply wish to celebrate the good life with you. And because we happily lack expensive offices and distant managers, we can spend more money on food and drinks with you. It goes without saying that when there is something special in season, and there usually is, we will include it in our tour. And we regularly come across a new shop during our tour or find that a new market stall has suddenly appeared. It would be a shame not to share that with you, so we’ll happily take a little detour to try something new and get your opinion on it.

Sometimes vacations don’t go entirely according to plan. In these situations there’s nothing worse than missing out on our tour and losing your money on top of it all. Especially when it is beyond your control. We don’t want to leave you with a bad taste in your mouth. At Amsterdam Food Tours you can cancel a tour for free up to 2 weeks before your tour date. Small groups

learn more

By limiting our group size to 12 guests, avoiding the busiest spots of Amsterdam and exploring the lesser-known areas we ensure a fun and relaxing food tour. You will not miss a thing and there will be ample opportunity to ask any questions you have. You will soon feel at home in the group. There will almost always be a seat available at the food stops, added to which, the vendors will often have time for a short chat. Leave the rat race at home.
