meeting point

Where you’ll start

Take a look at this photo. What a fantastic place to start your food tour isn’t it? We will welcome you just in front of this leaning and very old Dutch pub named ‘Café Papeneiland’ on the corner of two of Amsterdam’s most beautiful canals.

Meeting us

You will clearly recognize your guide at the starting point of the tour, by the folder with the Amsterdam Food Tours logo and if you are late we will try to telephone you (provided you issued us your number) to help you find your way and, of course, you can always phone us.

About the food and drinks

Be sure to come with an appetite, because we’re going to spoil you with loads of delicious food, right from the start of the tour! And you most probably will want to skip the next meal after the tour as well so you might want to book your favourite restaurant another day. We serve a drink at three food stops and of course a locally brewed beer will not be missing. If you don’t like that, you can also choose something else.

Food allergies and dietary requirements

This tour is suitable for vegetarians and guests who do not eat certain types of meat or fish. We can also take into account the most common allergies such as gluten and shellfish allergies. You can indicate this when booking and if in doubt, please ask us before you book. Unfortunately, our tours are not suitable for vegans.

How to get there

The starting point is easy to reach and is a 15-minute walk from Central Station. Well-known places in the vicinity are Dam Square (20 minutes walk) and the Anne Frank House (10 minutes walk). The end point in Café de Prins is a 5-minute walk from the starting point and a stone’s throw from the Anne Frank House. Public transport and taxi facilities are excellent to and from the tour area.

The walking

The tour is over flat surfaces and the route is approximately 2 kilometers. In between the tastings we’ll walk a maximum of 20 minutes, often much shorter. Usually seating places are available at the tasting locations. Please contact us if you are unsure about your physical fitness, we will be happy to look at the possibilities together, such as an adapted private tour.

So where did we go and what did I eat?

After the tour you will probably not only be satisfied and happy, but probably also not know exactly where you have been and what you have tasted. You do not have to worry about that because afterwards you will receive a handy overview of all stops and tastings so that you can go there again. And to make it even easier for you, we have added over 50 of our favorite Amsterdam restaurants and bars. But our guides are also happy to give you tips on what to do in and outside Amsterdam!

"We walked, talked, asked questions, ate and drank. I feel like I got to see a side of the history and culinary heritage of Amsterdam that was different and beyond your average food tour. Wear your walking shoes, come hungry, ask questions, have fun"
