What an amazing tour. Our guide Jan was awesome! Very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Amsterdam. Our food stops were all different and represented the variety of foods that can be found in Amsterdam. All were very yummy!! I highly recommend this tour!!

I had the greatest time during my tour this past Sunday. Lots of good local food with a great guide. Each place has been picked carefully and represents different aspects of the city’s food universe, from the classic apple pie to Indonesian-inspired dish. Being in Amsterdam for a full week, I went back to many of the places. I recommend 100%!

We had such a wonderful time with Thijs on the Grand Dutch Food & History Tour! I expected good things, since Rick Steves gave Amsterdam Food Tours high marks in his Amsterdam travel book, but the tour exceeded expectations. It did not feel like a tour but having a lovely walk around the city with a friend, who knew all of the good spots to visit and enjoy fantastic food, beverages and experiences. As a bonus, we learned a great deal about the city and its history along the way. I would recommend the tour to everyone and when we visit Amsterdam again in the future, we will look to Amsterdam Food Tours to make the trip memorable.

We had an excellent Sunday tour with Thijs, and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting. We were only in the city for a couple days, so having this tour was the perfect combination of exploring a neighborhood, learning some history of the city, and trying lots of different types of foods (I will be thinking about the sandwich for a long time to come). Can’t think of a better introduction to Dutch cuisine, and only regret we aren’t here long enough to go back and try full meals at every place we stopped.

If you’re looking to experience the real Amsterdam beyond the usual tourist spots, this tour is absolutely perfect. It offers a fantastic journey through hidden corners, unique places, and special tastings that you wouldn’t come across on your own. The guide is empathetic and highly engaged, making the whole experience incredibly enjoyable and well worth every cent. We had a really great time on our Grand Dutch Food & History tour. Rudolph was an excellent guide – very knowledgeable, entertaining and also very humorous. The food and wine selection was very good and we learned a lot about Amsterdam, its history and its food culture. We would highly recommend the tour.

Just finished a tour with our excellent guide – David. He was informative and knowledgeable about the history as well as the food. His time management was good – we never felt rushed and yet we got to all the places. He was very comfortable to be with and answered all our questions. We got a true sense of the Dutch culture. And all the stops served up yummy food. We will not be needing to eat dinner tonight. Would absolutely recommend.

Jan did a great job providing a thorough and detailed history of Amsterdam as well as showcasing highlights of boutique dutch cheese, wine, and the delicious apple pie! I am thrilled with his genuine enthusiasm and would be glad to have Jan again as my tour guide, share a good meal and conversation. Highly recommended! (tour during mid August 2025)

Marc gave an amazing tour today, the excellent choice of stops gave a wonderful glimpse into Amsterdam life and history. From traditional apple cake, meats, cheeses, wines to Indonesian satay all wrapped in engaging stories and information about this beautiful city. Marc and the wonderful local businesses earned every one of the 5 stars!

We took the Grand Dutch Food and History tour today with Inbal. She was intelligent and engaging and managed the group and our experience well. The food stops were places that felt very local and provided exquisite tastes, which Inbal helped us understand. I would recommend this highly, and it was good value for money!

David was great. His knowledge of the area was excellent and he had very interesting stories and historic facts to share. we discovered all sorts of interesting local food and learned that the Nederland has wineries. We got to taste an excellent white while sampling some local cheese.

I enjoyed a fantastic time on the Amsterdam East (Oost) Food Tour with guide Anna. Only three of us were on the tour, and as we walked from place to place Anna shared interesting info about the neighborhoods, streets, and restaurants, adding in relevant historical perspective and more. You’ll eat a lot on the tour, so do come hungry. I think even deep foodies will get a lot out of the tour, and you’ll enjoy food from Surinam, Indonesia, India, Turkey, and more. Oost is such a vibrant area (and blissfully away from the throngs in the canal area)—feels a bit like Jackson Heights in Queens, with so many food cultures represented. I highly recommend this tour, especially if you’re curious and open. The pistachio, hazelnut, and chocolate baklava I had at Divan Patisserie (shown) was outstanding, as was the rest of the food.

Loved the food trip! Jan (pronounced Yan) presents delicious bites that are uniquely Amsterdam. And as you go from place to place, traverses every block of Amsterdam with details that you might find after reading a dozen history books. Or you can hear it from him with all the layers of nuance and context of first hand knowledge.

We had such a great time on the food tour with Rudolph! He was entertaining and very knowledgeable about the history of Amsterdam. It was great learning it from a local. The food and drinks were very generous at each stop, we particularly enjoyed the stop at the fish van at the markets, it was unique! I am pescatarian so I was well looked after when the charcuterie board came out at the wine store, which I greatly appreciated. Thanks Rudolph, we loved it! Very memorable!

Had a great food and history tour with Rudolph. He gave us a wonderful orientation to the history and culture of Amsterdam and the Netherlands, which was a great way to start our trip. The tour gave us the knowledge and confidence to order traditional Dutch food on the rest of our trip. I would not have tried the Herring without this tour, but I loved it and enjoyed it many more times during our vacation. Every food and beverage stop was a highlight, and ranged from Dutch cheese to Dutch wine to apple pie, to herring (surprise favorite!), to bitterballen. Rudolph was interesting and charming and made great conversation. Highly recommend this tour for those that love learning about local food and culture.

Rudolph was a fantastic host and guide; witty, humorous with just a bit of local “color” that made his commentary clever and sharp, with excellent and accurate depiction Amsterdam history. We experienced wonderful and authentic Amsterdam street food, wine tasting, cheese, fish and meat! A delightful experience we highly recommend!

What an incredibly good introduction to Amsterdams history and food. Caroline spent her time immersing us in the Amsterdam we knew nothing about, and at various locations introduced us to the foods and wines of the country. Very accommodating and articulate, Caroline was a delight to spend our first day in Amsterdam with. Cannot recommend more highly for those visiting Amsterdam and wanting to know and taste this amazing place.

The Dutch food&history tour with Rudolph was nothing less than amazing. The rich variety of food places, the high quality, the generosity, the picant stories, the knowledge he shared, the humor, the easygoing character,- all in all gave us a deep unique look into the Dutch culinary and historical world and made us wish to come back to another round. Today we meet with Roudolph. we got a personal tour of Amsterdam’s Finest’s, eateries. from fresh apple pies to Shrimp Croquettes, a Sauage sandwich, with cheese, open grills scour (Beef) with a peanut butter dressing. & a side of salad. finishing up with a cheese and wine tasting venue. (Of course we went back) the following day, for more. the following morning, Pancakes at Prin’s. (and meet his son)

We have been doing many tours in Europe this week and this one was by far the best! David was AMAZING and so interesting and informative! My teenagers actually listened and loved this tour as well. This tour ended up being just the two of us and our guide Jackie. This was unexpected and in another situation could have been awkward. But Jackie is kind and delightful, easy to talk to for as long as she showed us around. We ate some delicious foods and the folks at every stop seemed glad to be helpful. Highlight for me was the JWO Lekkernijen deli, where we tried some really tasty meats.

Jacqueline is niet alleen ontzettend gastvrij en enthousiast, maar ze heeft ook een schat aan kennis over zowel de stad als de verhalen achter de eetgelegenheden die we bezochten. Rudolph gave us a glimpse into the food scene of Amsterdam! Through the various stops, we tried local favorites and found all to be very tasty! He was quite knowledgeable about Amsterdam in general and about the various foods in particular! I learned a little bit extra about Gin and where it originated from! We are afforded food and various cocktails and other alcoholic beverages! Well worth the money and time. Highly recommended!
