Discover Dutch food & Amsterdam history in one luxurious tour
Enjoy a high-quality food walking tour that brings Dutch cuisine, history, and culture together as you stroll through the Jordaan and along Amsterdam’s famous canals.
Explore the city in a small group of no more than 8 guests, allowing for a comfortable, unhurried experience filled with engaging conversations about anything you’d like to know. Along the way, you’ll taste classic and modern Dutch dishes at local specialty shops, cafés, and restaurants loved by Amsterdammers.
Thanks to being a genuine Amsterdam company and our many years of close relationships with our food partners and friends—often giving us exclusive access—you’ll feel welcome everywhere and enjoy a genuine behind-the-scenes experience.
With our unique mix of professional and semi-professional guides, all connected to the city for at least 15 years, you’ll hear real, personal stories and gain true insight into everyday life in Amsterdam.
What you’ll eat and drink
There are four, slightly, different tasting menus available during the week. This is because we only work with small, authentic businesses, and some of them are not open every day. We also like to take the opportunities each day offers—such as visiting the market on Saturday—and each season brings new flavors to the table. What never changes is the quality: every tour features unique places serving the very best of Dutch food and drinks. Please find our tastings per day below but keep in mind this may still vary.
Non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages of your choice are included, such as coffee, tea, soft drinks, wine, craft beer, and jenever.

Nothing is more disappointing than booking a shared tour that gets canceled due to insufficient bookings. That’s why we offer a unique complimentary upgrade service to ensure this won’t happen when you book with us.
This is how it works: the tour requires a minimum of 3 guests booked. If that number hasn’t been reached 3 days before the tour date and we can’t reschedule you to another time or date that suits you, you can choose a free upgrade to the Highlights of Dutch Food & History Tour — our private 2.5-hour tour starting at the same location and time — or receive a full refund. You can indicate your preference when booking. Please note, this service only applies to bookings via our website.

What is your cancellation policy?
This tour is free to cancel up to 24 hours before the tour start, for later cancellations and no-shows, no restitution will be given.
Can I reschedule this tour?
Yes, you can do so up to 24 hours before the tour date and on the condition we have an alternative date and or time available for you. To prevent any disappointments, please contact us for this as soon as possible.
Will the tour go ahead in bad weather?
Yes, the tour will go ahead in any weather, unless a ‘code orange’ warning has been issued by the Dutch weather institute KNMI. In case of a cancellation due to such circumstances, we will try to offer an alternative date, and if that is not possible in your case, you will receive a full refund.
What happens if you do not get the required minimum of 3 participants?
We understand how disappointing it can be when a tour is cancelled at the last minute, which is why we offer a unique arrangement. No later than 3 days in advance, we will contact you if there are insufficient bookings and offer you the following options: reschedule your booking to another guaranteed date and/or time; if that is not possible, receive a free upgrade to our Highlights of Dutch Food & History Tour—a 2.5-hour private tour with 4 tastings; or, of course, choose to receive a full refund. Please note, this arrangement is only available for direct bookings via our website.
What happens if I am late?
If we notice that you are not there at the designated time, we will try to call you on the phone number you provided when booking to find out whether you need assistance. Of course, we will also provide you with a phone number on which to contact us. The food tours always start with a tasting at the meeting point, which gives you about half an hour of flexibility to join later. Please note, you may need to skip the first tasting and beverage in that case.
Can you cater for food allergies and dietary restrictions?
The tour is well suited for vegetarians, pescatarians and we can cater for various food restrictions such as gluten, nuts, crustacean or dairy free. Unfortunately we can not cater for the vegan lifestyle. When making your booking, you will be asked to specify any dietary requirements. Please, contact us when in doubt.
What if I don’t drink alcohol?
A wide selection of delicious non-alcholic beverages, including at the Dutch wine tasting, is available.
How much food is served?
Come hungry and do not make a dinner reservation for at least 3 hours or so after the tour as you will enjoy lots of Dutch food
How much walking is involved?
Around 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) on easy terrain. The majority of the tastings are seated, and between tastings you will walk and stand still for up to 20 minutes. As some of the tasting locations are in centuries-old buildings, you may encounter small steps and steep, narrow staircases. Restrooms may also be located upstairs or downstairs.
Is the tour suitable for guests with limited mobility?
Although most tasting locations offer (reserved) seating and the walks in between are relatively short—on average 10 to 20 minutes, including standing still along the way—it is important that you have good mobility and can maintain a normal walking pace. Amsterdam is an old city with many narrow streets and sometimes tight sidewalks. Many locations also have small but steep staircases and narrow entrances. Unfortunately, this tour is therefore not suitable for guests using a walker or wheelchair. In that case, please contact us to discuss the options for the private tour version, where we can better take your mobility needs into account. Please, contact us when in doubt.
Is the tour available in other languages than English?
Not on this shared tour but we do offer various languages on the private tour version: Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Hebrew.
Do you offer pick up and drop off services?
Not on this shared tour but we do offer this on the private tour version.

We had a great time on our 4 hour tour. Plenty of food and great history lessons. Our tour guide Rudolph was very personable and kept us entertained the whole time. I would recommend to anyone that wants a full tour of food in the city!
Amazing food, great views, and very fun guide. Our guide rob was very accommodating and made our experience the best it could be.
Such a great time. Sampling all the essential Dutch food groups. The sightseeing was wonderful as well. Best of all was our guide Rudolph. Engaging, funny, and filled with the fun of Amsterdam.
We had such a great time learning the history of Amsterdam while tasting the delicious food. The quaint shops and restaurants that were selected were perfect for the tour Kolya had so much personality and was fun guide to have for our personal tour.
We had a wonderful food tour of the Jordaan district of Amsterdam with our guide, David. David was an excellent guide, and gave us a first class Dutch food experience. Not only did he shepherd us through Amsterdam’s streets and along the canals , he also wove the history of both the city and the country into the Dutch food & cafe culture in a way that brought it all to life. Many thanks for a very memorable experience. We are very comfortable recommending this tour and David to anyone coming to Amsterdam.
Our Amsterdam Food Tour was excellent. The places we visited and the food we tasted made us feel like locals. More importantly, our guide, Joanna, was exceptional. She was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. We highly recommend without reservation, this tour with Joanna.
Really wonderful tour! I was fresh off a red eye flight and this tour was such a wonderful introduction to Amsterdam! So many yummy tastings, there wasn’t a bad one in the bunch! Thijs was so knowledgeable! Because of his wonderful connections to the community we were welcomed warmly every place we went! The food and drinks really were exceptional, like…Dutch wine? Who knew! It didn’t hurt that the Jordaan neighborhood feels so special and beautiful, and the day we had was just a perfect spring day with the “May snow” sprinkling down from the trees. I would absolutely do this tour again, and I do hope to bring my husband next time. He’s been jealous of all the local knowledge I’ve been dropping. If I had only 4 hours to experience Amsterdam, I would have left this tour happy and feeling like I’d gotten to see the real city! It’s a cheat code straight past the instagram famous Amsterdam and right to the true flavor of this wonderful city!
Food tours are our favorite things to do in new cities, and this tour did not disappoint! Rudolph was an excellent tour guide, introducing us to new foods as well as teaching us about the history and architecture of Amsterdam. But come HUNGRY as the amount of food is quite abundant. Definitely recommend!
